YOGA

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR:

My body really appreciated Andrea’s Restorative Yoga classes. Some of her stretches are different from what I normally do; but that is good for my body.  Andrea’s calming voice and instructions on not overdoing are excellent. My body feels great after an hour of Yoga with Andrea!

Andrea is a very kind and patient Yoga instructor which makes her Yoga sessions enjoyable.  Both her Chair and Restorative Yoga sessions help me maintain various muscle groups that I am not otherwise using.  Using these muscles in gentle movements and poses helps to prevent and reduce my fibromyalgia pain.   Thank you Andrea!

CHAIR YOGA:

Chair yoga is a general term for practices that modify yoga poses so they can be done while seated in a chair. These modifications make yoga more accessible and is appropriate for all levels and abilities.  This 45-minute chair based yoga session focuses on gentle stretches for the neck, shoulders, spine, hands and feet and includes breath work and meditation. Classes are designed for those with limited mobility or those looking for some simple stretches to help ease their pain. No previous experience is needed.

RESTORATIVE YOGA:

Restorative yoga is a restful practice that holds yoga poses (asanas) for a longer duration using props like yoga blocks, blankets, and bolsters. It is a practice of deep relaxation that emphasizes the meditative aspect of yoga. Through the use of props for support, many of the postures are held almost effortlessly. Unlike the chair yoga sessions participants need to feel comfortable moving from the floor to a standing position back down again unassisted. Session are typically 45 minutes and include breath work and meditation.
